Magical Item Identification
This page describes adjustment the D&D 5e base rules for magical item identification.
I (who commands all) propose:
- One cannot tell if an item is magical simply by holding it.
- The identification spell will not necessary reveal all properties, though it often will.
I’m thinking of this as I’d like the PCs to be able to discover what items do, instead of the 5e rules way of just looking at it for 1 hour and then they know. If the PC comes up with the relevant test to discover its magical property and can perform it easily, they figure out what it does.
The plot will tend to reveal the magical uses of items anyway.
